New BIG Feelings tools for student support

BIG Feelings Bundles for summer support

Hi everyone,

I hope the end of the school year is feeling as smooth as possible and that you are getting closer to a little more breathing room.

I wanted to share that I recently added several new BIG Feelings bundles for kids, teens, families, counselors, and educators. These tools were created around a simple idea that comes up often when supporting students through big feelings:

Regulation first. Reflection when they’re ready.

Students are not always ready to talk through what happened right after something hard. When they are overwhelmed, anxious, angry, shut down, stressed, or emotionally flooded, they often need help calming their bodies before they can reflect, problem-solve, or choose a next step.

The new bundles bring together tools that support both parts of that process:

  • coping and regulation cards for the moment
  • reflection cards for later
  • feelings wheel visuals for emotional awareness
  • Feel • Pause • Choose reminders
  • IRULE check-in tools to help students identify feelings, notice body cues, understand triggers, and choose what helps

These can be used in counseling offices, calm corners, small groups, therapy sessions, classroom support spaces, or as take-home resources for students and families.

The new bundles include:

Kids Regulate + Reflect Bundle

For younger students who need concrete coping tools, feelings language, and gentle reflection support.

Teen Regulate + Reflect Bundle

For teens and young adults who may need help slowing down, regulating their bodies, and reflecting once they feel more settled.

Student Support Toolkit: Regulation + Reflection Tools

A fuller set designed for school counselors, therapists, educators, social workers, and support staff who want a range of tools for both kids and teens.

As always, my hope is that these tools make emotional support feel a little more accessible, practical, and compassionate, for both students and the adults supporting them.

Thank you for the work you did for the students during this school year. I know this time of year can hold a lot, and I hope you get some well-deserved rest soon. Happy summer!

Warmly,

Dr. Missy Kleinz
